McDonnell awards a subcontract worth $2.5 million to the Collins Radio Company of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The subcontract is to provide the voice communications system for the Gemini spacecraft.

This system is to consist of the voice control center on the spacecraft’s center instrument panel, a pair of ultra-high-frequency voice transceivers, and one high-frequency voice transceiver. It is to provide communications between astronauts, between the spacecraft and blockhouse during launch, between spacecraft and ground from launch through reentry, and between the spacecraft and recovery forces during landing.
