A-to-Z sequences tend to accumulate themes. There’s reasons for this. Usually someone suggesting one topic will suggest several topics. Everyone has their interests and would like to hear more about them. When I pick topics, I’m inclined to the ones I think I can be interesting about, and that biases me towards my strengths. But it’s still early to guess what will dominate this year’s sequence.
But I do feel like it’s leaning toward analysis, and to mathematical physics. Which brings up one my earlier mathematical physics pieces. The Leap Day 2016 A-to-Z had an essay on energy. Looking at the energy of a physical system can let us turn force and acceleration problems, with a lot of potentially complicated vector stuff, into nice simple stuff. Scalars. Calculations that you can do more quickly. So that’s worth looking at.
